• Men’s Golf Report – Week ending 23rd June 2019

  • The Midweek results

    Owing to the rather inclement weather conditions on Tuesday had a field of only thirteen hardy souls out competing in the Par event. The winner was Robert Dundas (10) who finished square from Chris Leaman (15) with minus one. Ball rundown went to minus six on a countback. Nearest the Pin on the third was Blair St Anne and on the sixteenth was Dave Octigan.

    On Thursday we had the regular Stableford event. This saw some great scores being returned with fifty-two players in the field and two in the Gold event. The winner of Division One was Graham Mear (16) with a great score of 42 points on a countback from Rob Fankhauser (13) also with 42 points.
    The winner of Division Two was Charlie Heath (19) with 37 points also on a countback from Nathan Pelling (28) also with 37 points. Ball run down went 35 points on a countback. Nearest the pins were Rob Dundas on the third, Brad Grant on the seventh, Dan Robertson on the ninth and on the twelfth and Andrew Downey on the sixteenth. Nearest the pin second shot on the eighteenth was collected by Peter Vallance. The closest to the second shot on the tenth for handicap 0 – 18 was Phil Conway, whilst closest to the pin second shot on the seventeenth for handicap 18+ was Nick Jones. Best score on holes 7 – 12 was Rob Fankhauser.
    The Gold event was won by Geoff Lowry (33) with a whopping 54 points.
    There were two rabbits for the day, being Maurie Walsh and Les Wood.

    The Weekend results

    The event on Saturday was a stableford competition with twenty-five golfers vying for the prizes. The winner was Dean Seccull (20) with a fantastic 42 points from Mark Jones (5) with 41 points (Parred the course). Ball rundown went to 35 points on a countback. Nearest the pins were Mic Davis on the seventh, Rob Healy on the ninth and sixteenth, closest to the pin second shot on eighteen was Brad Grant. The Hidden holes winner was Bob Speed on a countback.

    On Sunday, 9 members travelled to Yarrawonga to compete in the NEDGA Championships. Mark Bettany and Ross Penny were winners on the day, however results were not to hand at time of publishing.
