• Men’s Golf Report – Week ending 22nd September 2019

  • Congratulations this week go to Jeremy Veneman on winning the MARKS SUPA IGA sponsored September Monthly Medal on Saturday.

    The Midweek results

    Tuesday’s event saw a small field of 17 players out contesting a stroke event. The winner was Taki Murakami (11) with a nett 71 on a countback from Blair St Anne (3) also with a nett 71. Ball rundown went nett 77. Nearest the pin on the third was Sam Sandhu and on the sixteenth was Blair St Anne, who also collected the NTP second shot on the eighteenth.

    Thursday’s event saw a large field of 71 very happy souls fronting the starter for the regular Stableford event, as well as three gold participants. The winner of Division One was Brad Grant (9) with a great 41 points from Mike Harrison (6) with 36 points.
    The winner of Division Two was Bill Parsons (19) with 40 points from Greg Johnstone (16) with 37 points.
    The winner of Division Three was John Plummer (26) with 39 points from John Hawkes (25) with 37 points.
    Ball run down went 34 points on a countback.
    Nearest the pins were Bill Hammen on the third, Daniel Robertson on the seventh, Bill Hammen on the ninth and Shaun Wade on the sixteenth. NTP second shot on the eighteenth was Peter Vallance. The secret hole results were: Holes 1-6 Brad Grant, Holes 13-18 Josh Foots and Par 3’s was Gordon Jeffs.
    There were two rabbits for the day, and they were Dean Seccull and Bob Cullen.
    The Gold event saw Geoff Lowry (29) still continuing his good form taking out the event with 40 points.

    Snake Pit (99 points) lost to Young Guns (105 points)
    TMG’s (101 points) lost to Premium Unleaded (113 points)
    X-Factors (98 points) lost to Eagles and Birdies (110 points)

    The Weekend Results

    Saturday’s event was a stroke round for the September Monthly Medal sponsored by MARKS SUPA IGA along with the last round for the JN Pickering. With thirty-six competitors vying for the spoils it was an entertaining days’ golf, despite the showers and windy conditions.
    The winner of the day and the September Medal winner was Jeremy Veneman (20) with a nett 70 on a countback from Dave Octigan (11) also with a nett 70. Nearest the pins were Rob Healy on the third, Maurie Walsh on the seventh, Jeremy Veneman on the ninth, Tony Pridham on the twelfth and Jeremy Veneman on the sixteenth. Nearest the pin second shots were:
    on the tenth, Alex Stephens, on the seventeenth Aaron Knight and on the eighteenth Kane Blunt. The hidden holes went to Jeremy Veneman, whilst the JD Perks scratch winner was Mike Harrison with 77 gross.

    The last round of the JN Pickering Memorial trophy was also held on Saturday. The winner was Phil Conway with 868 shots from Mark Jones with 901 shots and Kane Blunt with 908 shots. This event comprises the best 12 nett scores over 15 stroke rounds from November to September each golfing year.

    Thursday 3rd October – Stableford and GPL 12.30pm shotgun start. There will be a presentation in the clubhouse at 5pm of the proposed clubhouse alterations by the architects.
    Saturday 5th October – Open Stroke
