Men’s Golf Report Week Ending 19th July 2020

Congratulations to Rod Sargent and Mark Bettany on defending their KJ Evans crown on Saturday.

The Midweek results

Tuesday’s event was a Stableford competition with 25 players out in the sunny conditions.
The winner was Oliver Pearson (+2) with a great nett 71 (two under the card) from Brad Johnson (24) with a nett 72.
Line balls went down to nett 84 points on a countback. The hidden holes were won by Shane O’Brien.

Thursday’s event was the regular stableford competition with a field of 58 players with fine and sunny conditions. There were also two competitors in the Gold event.
The winner of Division One was Rod Sargent (2) with an excellent score of 38 points (even Par) from second placed Maurie Walsh (10) with a score of 34 points.
The winner of Division Two was Nick Jones (18) with 34 points from second placed Josh Foots (18) with 32 points.
Line balls went down to 29 points on a countback, and the best score on the even holes went to Brad Grant, whilst on the par threes it was Gary Johnson.
The Gold event was won by Geoff Lowry (19) with 31 points. And we had rabbits as well! The winners were Dave McKenzie and Jarrod Heath.

The Weekend Results

Saturday’s event was the KJ Evans Foursomes competition. After a very frosty morning delaying the start, there were 16 pairs out contesting the competition.
After 27 holes of golf the scratch and overall winners were decided by a sudden playoff with both pairs having a gross score of 115.
The eventual winners were Rod Sargent and Mark Bettany from Kane Blunt and Mike Harrison on the first playoff hole.
The nett winners for the day were the pairing of Rob Healy and Brad Johnson with a score of 107.5 nett. Runners-Up in the nett were Kane Blunt and Mike Harrison with 109 nett. Line balls went to the following pairs:
Darrel Horwood and Peter Vallance, Rod Sargent and Mark Bettany, Shaun Wade and San Sandhu, Dean Grining and Phil Conway, Paul Cougle and Tony Crawford, Mark Pearson and Dean Seccull, Nick Jones and Dave Octigan, Graham Mear and Mingo Diaz and Mark Jones and Oli Pearson.
There was also a stableford competition and the winner was bob Speed with 34 points from Dion Sheahan with 33 points. Line balls went down to 30 points.

With the current conditions changing day by day, we would remind ALL players to check the Local Rules board to confirm what changes have been made.

Would all members please note that the finals for the Bill Reardon Matchplay are to now be played on Sunday 2nd August from 10am, the men’s competitors are Dean Seccull to play Rod Sargent over 27 holes. The ladies competitors are Sue Parsons and Glenis Skinner.
