• Mansfield Ladies Golf Report

  • While we are all delighted to be back out playing golf and our enthusiasm is undaunted, the recent rains have made for some heavy conditions and we are nearly all struggling to score very well. Nevertheless, turnouts continue to be generally strong.
On Tuesday, 6 ladies played 9 holes of Par, and Linda Brook continued some strong form to take the win with -5 over Linda Terry and Marion Mitchell on a countback.

Wednesday was very wet underfoot after some heavy rains and to protect the course, carts were not allowed – which kept quite a few of the girls at home. The 17 who played the stableford round saw the battle of the two Lyns – Lyn Holland took the win on a countback from Lyn Poulson, both with 28 points. Balls went down the line to 22 points and the Hidden Holes was won by Louise Calvert-Jones.

Thursdays 9 hole saw a win to Sam Bailey with 13 points.

Finally, on Saturday a great field of 17 headed out in thick fog for the early groups and the fingers were very cold before the sun finally broke through after lunch! Best on the day and winning the Par event for Div 2, was Lyn Poulson with an excellent score of -2. Runner up for Div 2 was Lesley Anderson on -4. In Div 1 the win went to Robyn Baker on -4 and runner up Lyn Holland -6, continuing the good form of the two Lyns! Line balls went to Louise Calvert-Jones and Linda Brook both on -6 and Linda Terry, Donna Sedgman and Gayle Wells, all with -7.

On Wednesday, the ladies will be contesting the missed April Monthly Medal, sponsored by Edith and May. We are incredibly grateful to all our wonderful sponsors who continue to support us despite their own tough economic times and encourage everyone to shop local and support those who support us!
