Mansfield Ladies Golf Report – 26th January 2020

Ladies golf in Mansfield continues to thrive with our membership numbers and interest from the ladies really taking off. A beginner’s clinic on Tuesday attracted 10 ladies, who learnt the finer points of putting and chipping from our Golf Professional, Dan Robertson. All came away smiling with the improvements achieved and there was lots of chatter and planning, for social rounds of golf to follow.
For the regular comps we also continue to have very good turnouts for ladies golf over the school holidays. On Tuesday, there were 11 ladies playing stableford and the winners were Div 1, Linda Brook (18 points), Div 2, Louise Ramsay (16 points) and runners up Glenis Skinner in Div 1 (17 points) and Lorraine Wilson in Div 2 (16 points).
Our Wednesday comp had 21 players also playing stableford, with the winners in the respective divisions being Andrea Marsden (35 points) on a countback to Robyn Baker and in Div 2, Norma Friday (34 points) from Lorraine Cullen (33 points). Line Balls went to Donna Sedgman (33), Millie Cumming (32), Nicki Cooper (31), Marion Mitchell (30) and Marg Knapp (30). Nearest the pins went to Nicki Cooper on the 3rd and Sam Bailey 7th an 16th. The best score on holes 13-18 was Lorraine Cullen and on holes 1-6, Shirley Nolan.
On Saturday it was time for our Monthly Medal, sponsored with our thanks, by Cathy Henry Pharmacy. Once again a good turnout of 20 ladies and the winner of the Medal with a terrific nett 70, was Gayle Wells. Runner Up with nett 74 was Shirley Nolan on a countback to Marion Mitchell who was the first of the line balls. Remaining line balls went to Sam Bailey (75), Nicki Cooper (76), Sheryl Sargent (76), Lyn Poulson (78) and Jenny Koraus, Millie Cumming and Donna Sedgman (all 79). NTP on 16th was Sam Bailey, the putting went to Sheryl Sargent, and the closest 3rd shot on the 18th to Gayle Wells. Well done to all players and to all the ladies for their ongoing commitment and enthusiasm to Mansfield Golf!
