  • Robin Baker piloting Shelley Commerford around Black Bull

Life returned to almost normal this week as a large contingent of Mansfield lady golfers headed off to play at Black Bull last Monday. The seventeen players were very excited to be able to be out and about and on such a lovely course in perfect weather. A smaller group went on to play at Bright the next day and this was equally enjoyable. One player who was especially delighted to not only be out of the house, but to actually have a hit for the first time in a couple of months, was Shelly Comerford. After breaking both her ankles in a fall at home, she was upright again, albeit still in one moon boot and with one crutch, but still managed to play 9 holes at Bright and come in with a great score of 46 off the stick! We were all thrilled to have Shelly back on course and many a laugh was had.

Back at home, Wednesday was our Medal of Medallist event, contested between all monthly medal winners for the year. Winning this prestigious board event with a lovely net 72 was Marion Sargeant. Congratulations Marion!

For the daily comp on Wednesday it was very pleasing to see a return to the winners circle by Robyn Baker, winning the day and Div 1 with a terrific nett 70. Div 1 runner up was Sue Parsons with 74. Winner of Div 2 was Marion Sargeant on a countback to Rosemary Fry. Line balls went to Nicki Cooper 74, Marion Mitchell 74, Lyn Poulson 75, Lesley Anderson, Gayle Wells, Marg Knapp and Margie Franke-Williams all 76, Linda Brook and Shirley Nolan both 78. Robyn Baker had the best score on the odd holes, and Marion Mitchell and Rosemary Fry shared the prize for the best score on the par 3’s.

Tuesday saw 10 ladies playing a nine hole stroke round, with Glenis Skinner winning Div 1 with net 36 and Pam Abbott winning Div 2 with net 45. No players braved the wet on Saturday.

Wednesday will be our October Monthly Medal, sponsored by Sanae’s Collections.
