    Congratulations also go to Oliver Shaw on his win in the 2017 Cranbourne Junior Open. A great score of 2 under par!

     

    Tuesday was a stableford event with a slight twist. This being that only 4 clubs were allowed to be used. With a field of 33 players fronting the starter some fun was sure to be had.

    The winner was Jarrod Heath (13) with 40 points, from Rob Healy (14) who had 37 points. Ball rundown went to 30 points on a countback.

    Nearest the pin went to Tony Crawford on the 7th, and Oliver Pearson on the 16th. The Pro pin on the 3rd went to Tony Crawford. The Super Holes were taken out by Jarrod Heath and Sam Sandhu.

     

    On Thursday we had a great field of 63 players front the starter for the regular Stableford event. The Gold Event had five contestants.

    The Division 1 winner was Michael Harrison (4) with a great score of 40 points. Runner Up was Chris Anderson (17) with a score of 38 points.

    The winner of Division 2 was Peter Dolling (20) with a score of 42 points from the runner-up Adrian Smith with 40 points. Ball run down went to 34 points on a countback. Nearest the on the 7th was Brian Russell, 9th was Kevin Jacobs, 12th was Oliver Pearson and the 16th Brad Grant. Don Clutterbuck collected the pro pin on the 3rd, and the nearest the pin 2nd shot on 18 was won by Brad Grant. The 2nd shot on the 10th went to John Plummer, and the Super Holes were collected by Rob Fankhauser and Billy Moran.

    The Gold Course winner was Ron Britton (33) with a great 42 points, from runner up Graham Smith (29) with 41 points.

     

    Weekend Results

    Saturday saw the KJ Evans Foursomes being contested.

    With a field of 8 male and nine female pairs competing, once again some great scores have been returned.

    The ladies winners were Sue Parsons and Gayle Wells with a gross score of 140 strokes. In the daily competition the handicap winners were Glenis skinner and Millie Cumming with a nett 108.5 from Runners up Robyn Baker and Shelly Comerford with a nett 117.25. The ladies nearest the pin on the 7th hole was won by Gayle Wells. The ball rundown went to Sheryl Sargeant and Lyn Holland with 118 nett.

     

    The men’s winners were Mark Bettany and Tony Crawford with a gross score of 117 strokes. In the daily competition the winners were Rob Healy and Damian Ryan with a nett 110 from Mark Bettany and Tony Crawford with 111 nett. Nearest the pins on the 7th went to Roger Eddy and Mark Bettany on the 9th.

    The pro comp winner on the 3rd hole was Roger Eddy, whilst the super holes were won by Glenis Skinner and Millie Cumming on a countback.

    There was also a stableford event on Saturday for those not competing in the foursomes, this was won by Laurie Harcus (22) with 38 points from Clive Marsden (13) with 37 points. Ball rundown went to 32 points.

     

    On Sunday the Men’s Scratch and Handicap Pennant teams were in action. The results are:

    Scratch defeated Thurgoona 4 and 1 at Yarrawonga, whilst the handicap defeated Benalla 3 and 2 at Tarrawingee.

    A quick tip for this week: Practice your tempo — and slow it down! You almost can’t swing too slowly. Swinging in tempo lets your hands and body square the club face to the proper line. It also lets your body shift its weight in the right sequence for maximum power. (Wish I knew how)
