• Ladies Golf Report – Week ending August 21st

  • Not a bad week, considering….

LAST week, things began to look up as far as the weather and conditions on the course were concerned.

However, spirits fell at the weekend as the cold and rain returned with a vengeance.

Seven ladies played on Tuesday, with Margaret Gray winning with 13 points.

Glenis Skinner came in second with 12.

Wednesday saw 18 players in nine teams for the two person Ambrose event.

Winners on the day were Cheryl Sargent and Lorraine Cullen with a really good score of 73.75.

Second was the team of Sue Parsons and Nikki Coffey, with 75.25.

Lyn Poulson and Marion Foster won the Nearest the Pin prize on the third hole, and line balls went to the pairings of Marion Sargeant and Glenis Skinner (who only missed out on second place by .5) and Lesley Anderson and Shirley Nolan.

There were only three players in the Thursday nine hole event, won by Pam Abbott with 16 points, one of the best nine hole scores we have seen since the ‘big wet’ set in.

Seven ladies went out on Saturday, even though the weather was pretty unpleasant.

Winner of the 18 hole stroke event was Marion Sargeant with a good score of 78, followed by Millie Cumming on 81.

Nearest the Pin on the third hole went to Millie Cumming, Marion Sargeant won the putting and Cumming also won the Pro Pin on the third hole.

Line balls went to Shelley Comerford and Sam Bailey.

We can only hope that this blast of icy weather we are experiencing this week is the final fling for winter and that spring is just around the corner – hordes of frustrated golfers hope this is the case.
