• Ladies Golf Report – Week ending 7th July 2019

  • Golf is supposed to be a winter sport, but I can’t personally find my mojo when golfing in heavy conditions. I clearly need to take some lessons from Gayle Wells however, as she came in with a beautiful 37 points on Wednesday to win the stableford competition. Lesley Anderson also had a good handle on conditions taking out the runner up prize with 35 points. Line Balls went to Sue Parsons 23, Shirley Nolan 31, Robyn Baker, Marion Sargeant and Glenis Skinner all 30 and Nikki Coffey 27. Nearest the pins went to Linda Brook on the 3rd, Glenis Skinner on the 7th and Jackie Smithwick on the 16th. Lesley Anderson won the 3rd shot on the 18th and the chipping contest. Well done ladies!
The weeks 9 hole competitions saw Sheryl Sargent winning the stroke round on Tuesday with nett 36 and Linda Brook runner up with nett 40. Thursday’s stableford round was won by Lyn Poulson with 15 points.
On Saturday, Gayle Wells was once again the winner with nett 79 on a countback from Sheryl Sargent. Line balls went to Lyn Poulson 84 and Millie Cumming 85.
Ladies are reminded that next Saturday is Captain’s Day which is a 4BBB with draw for partners, so if you would like to play, please add your name to the list in the Golf Shop.
We will shortly be starting once-a-fortnight practice sessions for all players and in particular new golfers or any ladies wanting to try out golf. These sessions on the practice facilities will be held initially on Tuesday 23rd July and 13th August and Sunday 4th August and 25th August. They will be fun, social sessions and anyone interested can find more details on the Mansfield Golf Club website.
