• Ladies Golf Report – Week ending 5th May 2019

  • A busy week of golf, with sixteen of our ladies heading to Benalla to take part in their annual Bowl on Thursday.

With the forecast of torrential rain, it was a credit to the spirit and commitment of the 100 or so ladies from across the North East, who still turned up to play! But in the end, we stayed relatively dry and some great results were recorded. Sue Parsons won A grade with 39 points and Linda Brook won the “Spring Chicks” and was runner up in D Grade also with 39 points.
At home on Tuesday the 9-hole par round was won by Linda Brook.

On Wednesday, Norma Friday had a lovely round of 36 points to take out the stableford comp, while Millie Cumming was runner-up with 34 points. Line balls went to Sue Parsons (34), Sam Bailey (34) and Nicki Cooper (33). NTP’s went to Sheryl Sargent on the 3rd and Millie Cumming on the 16th, while Linda Terry chipped in, to win the chipping contest.
On Saturday it was another stableford round and the stand-out performance was Sue Parsons, winning with a lovely 38 points, leaving a fair bit of daylight to runner-up Donna Sedgman with 31 points. Line balls went to Louise Calvert-Jones, Lyn Holland, Robyn Baker, Millie Cumming and Wendy Hunt.
Finally on Sunday, the top 4 qualifiers for the Bill Reardon Handicap Championships played their match-play semi-finals. All four ladies, were very deserving to have reached the finals, with qualifying based on best performances of the Feb, Mar and Apr Monthly Medals. In the end the matches went down to the wire on the 18th with Shelly Commerford victorious against Glenis Skinner 1 up, and Linda Brook beating Sue Parsons also 1up. Congratulations to all 4 ladies for reaching the finals and for these close matches. Shelly and Linda will now contest the final over 27 holes on 26th May.
As an added extra this week, 29 ladies also had a fun morning playing mini golf, organised by Nicki Cooper. With coffee and donuts to also enjoy, there were a lot of laughs and fun had by all!
