• Ladies Golf Report – Week ending 30th June 2019

  • Our Monthly Medal day on Wednesday dawned cold and frosty but gloriously sunny. The golf start was going to be delayed while we waited for the frost to melt, so we did some fun chipping practice with some dollars in the hole to get us focused! Having honed our skills (but with the money still in the hole!) we headed out hopeful of a great score. Millie Cumming certainly achieved her wish, coming in with a lovely 71 nett to take out the Medal. Runner up was Sam Bailey with nett 73. Line balls went to Gayle Wells 78, Lyn Poulson 78, Louise Calvert-Jones and Glenis Skinner both on 79 and Norma Friday 80. Nearest the pin on the 16th was Lyn Poulson and on the 3rd, Millie Cumming. The putting was won by Norma Friday and the chipping shootout by Linda Terry. Well done girls and big thanks to our Monthly Medal Sponsor, Loyola Jewellery.
Thursday’s 9-hole stableford round was won by the ever-steady Anne Watkins.
On Saturday, just 3 ladies were crazy enough to venture out in terrible weather, demonstrating just how addictive golf can be. I’m sure those ladies would however, be very grateful if I didn’t mention their scores! Suffice to say, Marion Sargeant had a slightly better Par score than Millie Cumming or Sue Parsons! But full points for dedication girls!!
The lady golfers are currently putting together an idea for a fortnightly social practice morning on the driving range during winter. It will be open to any ladies interested in giving golf a go, who might like to hit a bucket of balls along with a few of our regular ladies. The emphasis will be on the social aspects of golf, especially the coffee and cake afterwards! Watch this space for more details in the next couple of weeks.
