• Ladies Golf Report – Week ending 26th May 2019

  • “Franke-Williams wins Monthly Medal whilst Parsons stars at Mildura”

The Mansfield ladies are ever willing to travel far and wide for a game of golf. This week has produced another strong week of golf not only at home but around the State.
Firstly at home, Anne Watkins, Kay Rose and Pam Abbott had their own personal 9 hole Stableford competitions on both Tuesday and Thursday with the ever consistent 9 holer, Anne Watkins winning both days with 16 points. Ten ladies managed quite well on Wednesday enjoying a sunny Stableford competition, whilst both their Captain and Vice-Captain were away. Marg Franke-Williams won the day with 33 points on a countback from Lyn Poulson. Line balls went to Linda Brook (32), Louise Calvert-Jones (32), Marion Mitchell (31) and Marion Sargeant (30).
Saturday’s Monthly Medal was sponsored by Sanae’s Collections. Marg Franke-Williams continued her good form winning the Medal with nett 75. Well done Marg. Robyn Baker was second with nett 77. Line balls were taken by Louise Calvert-Jones (78), Lyn Poulson (79) and Anne Watkins (80).
Away from home, we had a number of ladies travelling to Yea, Jubilee and Strathbogie for their Bowls. Whilst we did not bring home any trophies, there were some very respectable scores. Linda Brook and Lyn Poulson did win line balls at Jubilee.

Tri State ladies winner – Sue Parsons

Finally, 6 ladies competed in the Tri-State competition in Mildura which is played on courses in Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales. Shirley Nolan lost on a countback in B Grade at Riverside. Sheryl Sargent won a nearest the pin but Sue Parsons really starred. Sue won A Grade at Red Cliffs and was runner up at Coomealla whilst winning the 54 holes Stableford over the three days. Needless to say, Sue now has a new handicap. Congratulations to Sue and all the ladies who played.
