• Ladies Golf Report – Week ending 21st April 2019

  • After a busy month or two of pennant, our ladies settled back into regular golf at home this week.

A very good field of 14 turned out on Tuesday for 9 holes of stableford, with the winners being Shirley Nolan with 18 points in Div 1 and Annie Watkins with 20 in Div 2. Runners up were Robyn Baker 17, and Wendy Hunt 16.
On Wednesday, with the day warmer than it really should be for this time of the year, we had a field of 22 out enjoying the conditions. Margie Franke-Williams, on a roll from her strong pennant season, had a stand out 39 points to win the day and Div 2, while Sheryl Sargent was the winner of Div 1 with 34 points. Runners up were Div 1, Sam Bailey (33) and Div 2, Meg Broomfield (34). Balls went to Lesley Anderson (34), Glenis Skinner (34), Lyn Poulson (33), Gayle Wells (32), Sue Parsons (32) and Nicki Cooper (32). NTP’s were Sheryl Sargent on the third and Donna Sedgman on the sixteenth. Shelly Comerford had the closest third shot on the eighteenth as well as the closest chip, while Margie Franke Williams had the best score on the even holes.
Thursday 9-hole winner was Wendy Hunt with 17 points and runner up Kay Rose 15. Saturday saw many Easter visitors out and about on the course, but just 3 ladies were able to find time amongst the holiday activities. Sheryl Sargent won the day with 28 points.
Our annual Bowl is coming up this Friday and it is looking like it will be a big field of around 90 ladies from throughout the NE and beyond. We are very grateful for the support of our sponsors who make this day possible, especially Anne Blampied from Bi-Rite Home Appliances, as well as Sarah Brennan (Rustic Hyde) and April Currie (Delatite Special Occasions).
