• Ladies Golf Report – Week ending 20th May 2018

  • “A Full Week of Golf for Lady Members and Potential Lady Golfers”

Our Golf Professional, Dan Robertson has been conducting beginner clinics for our local ladies who are interested in taking up the game.  It was great to see nine ladies participate and benefit  from Dan’s expertise.  When asked why they should take up golf, Dan said “long weekends away which may include playing just one day of golf at some exotic sounding course or resort”!!  Possibly he should have also mentioned the enjoyment and challenge of the game!  We hope to see these ladies playing regularly.

Another week of great results was produced.

Tuesday’s 9 hole competition is becoming very popular with 15 ladies playing Stroke.  Donna Sedgman  won Division 1 with a net 37 from Marion Mitchell with net 38 and Wendy Hunt (good to see you back on the Course Wendy) won Division 2 with net 37 from Pam Abbott with net 40.

19 ladies played Wednesday’s Stroke round with another day out for Marion Sargeant winning with a net 73 from Sheryl Sargent on net 74.  Marion also took out the Pro Comps of best score on every third hole and the closest chip.  Well done.  Nearest the pins went to Sue Wilson on 3rd, Lyn Poulson on 7th and Marg Knapp on 16th.

Thursday, 9 ladies played Stableford with Donalee Ross winning with an impressive 20 points from Meg Broomfield on 16 points.

Captain’s Day on Saturday saw 8 of our ladies participating in mixed Gentsomes, however no prizes except a tick for playing.

Nikki Coffey and Lesley Anderson battled it out in the final of the Ladies Bill Reardon Matchplay Championships  on Sunday.  A battle it was with Nikki Coffey finally winning on the 29th hole.  Well done to both ladies.

Our ladies are continuing to enhance the reputation of our Club away from home.  Millie Cumming, Lesley Anderson and Marion Foster were unfortunately beaten on a count back for the Alexandra Bowl however Millie did win A Grade.  A great effort ladies.   Also Glenis Skinner continued her good ‘away form’ coming runner up in B Grade at Myrtleford.

Six of our ladies will be travelling to Mildura this week to compete in the Tri-State Championships.  We wish them well.
