• Ladies Golf Report – Week ending 14th April 2019

  • Results at home for this most recent week were: Tuesday 9-holes, Div 1 winner, Lesley Anderson with 33, and Div 2 Kay Rose with a lovely 38 points. Wednesday’s Par round was taken out by the in-form Linda Brook with +6 and runner up Millie Cumming on +3. NTP’s went to Sue Parsons on the 3rd, and Donnalee Ross on the 16th. Best bunker shot was Sue Parsons and the best score on holes 7-12 was Linda Brook. Thursday’s 9-hole comp was won by Kay Rose with 16 points.

On Saturday, the prestigious KJ Evans 27 hole event was run and the victorious pair of ladies were Donna Sedgman and Andrea Marsden over runners up Robyn Baker and Sam Bailey.

Our pennant teams also had a very successful week with wins in all 3 divisions, which gave all teams a chance to get into the finals as they headed into the final round this week. Unfortunately, other clubs had the same idea and came out with all guns blazing for their final rounds. In Div 1, our girls were up against Commercial Albury who were in equal position going into the final round. A win to Andrea Marsden and square to Sheryl Sargent wasn’t enough and our girls went down 1½:3½ to end their season. Div 2 had a lovely 4:1 win against Wangaratta, with wins to Linda Terry, Marg Knapp, Shelly Comerford and Shirley Nolan, but their chance of a final berth was dashed by Howlong who won against Myrtleford to claim the 2nd finishing position ahead of Mansfield just on game points. Our Div 3 ladies fought valiantly against the always tough Yarrawonga team. Wins to Jenny Foster and Linda Brook saw the team go down 2:3 to give up their 2nd place on the ladder and a finals berth, to Yarrawonga. So no finals for us this year, but congratulations to all our players for taking the finals race down to the wire and for all their commitment and effort as they travel the NE to fly the flag for Mansfield Golf Club in pennant. Special mention must also be made of our rookie pennant player this year, Linda Brook, who won 4 out of 4 of her Div 3 matched. An outstanding performance for someone who only took up golf 12 months ago!!
Our next major event is the syllabus is our Annual Bowl, to be held on April 26th where we host teams from all around the district. Our ladies are reminded that we need help with raffle prizes which can be dropped off at the Club up to Wednesday 24th. We will also be doing the presentation for our Summer Block competition on Weds 24th.
